Introduction To Acting For Camera

On-Camera Acting Intensive for Teens (age 13+)

With Carrie Ruscheinsky (stage and film Actor), and Nick George (Actor, Certified Alexander Technique Instructor)

4 Week Course Starting Sep 16

Mondays, 5pm-7pm

This acting course is designed to expand young actors' skills with a focus on the unique joys and challenges of film acting. Students will explore the nuances of acting for the camera versus the stage, gaining a deeper understanding of both mediums.

Throughout the course, students will delve into essential techniques such as scene breakdown, making specific and personal character choices, and trusting their instincts. They'll also learn the practical aspects of film acting, including hitting marks, understanding camera angles, and navigating on-set language—all within the “less is more” approach that film acting demands. By the end of the course, they'll be comfortable hearing "Rolling and Action!"

The goal of this intensive is to refine young actors' techniques through awareness, play, and practical tools. While the workshops won’t focus on topics like “how to get an agent” or “how to be a star,” curiosity about those areas is welcome.

This intensive will be led by OYES parents Carrie Ruscheinsky and Nick George, both experienced stage and film actors based in Ojai. (Short bios below).

*This class will be capped at 12 students,
